Overview
Our research focuses on wireless networks: wireless mesh, wireless ad-hoc and wireless sensor networks. We develop protocols and algorithms to organize the communication of wireless networks within physical, MAC and network layer. One of our main aims is to develop algorithms that are amenable to distributed or decentralized implementation. Our competencies lie within the fields of:
- communications
- signal processing
- applied mathematics
- information theory

Wireless Ad-Hoc And Mesh Networks
Wireless ad hoc networks are characterised by the absence of a fixed infrastructure. This distinguishes them from traditional mobile wireless networks and makes them interesting for an ever-increasing range of applications ... More...

Wireless Sensor Networks
A wireless sensor network is a collection of sensor nodes which are capable to capture different physical phenomena, and/or of acting on the environment. The main difference to a collection of wired sensor nodes is the ability to process and communicate the gathered information in a wireless fashion ... More...

Future Network Architectures
Future mobile applications require much higher data rates, but due to large cost and high energy consumptions, network operators are not interested in a further extension of current infrastructure. More...

Self-organization and Self-optimization
One of the key success factors of future wireless networks like LTE- networks will be the ability to meet the increasing demands of new and innovative services on quality-of-service... More...

Cognitive Radio
Efficient sharing of a finite and increasingly crowded radio spectrum is a challenging task for a designer of the future generation of wireless communications systems. The idea of Cognitive Radio System (CRS) has been proposed as an attempt to utilize... More...

Networked Control
The notion "Networked Control" refers to combination of control- and communication theory. Research here focuses on the design and the analysis of transmit- and receive strategies, adaptive quantizers, observers and controllers, to achieve some performance objectives. More...
