The main objective is to extend the lifetime of wireless sensor networks. The focus is on a class of wireless sensor networks characterized by event-based, bursty nature of traffic patterns. Our approach is to let sensor devices cooperate to exploit correlations in sensor data and to achieve communication capabilities that none of them could achieve individually. The major project merit lies in its cutting-edge research topics and proof-of-concept. The project is carried out jointly with Sino-German Joint Software Institute (JSI), Beijing, China.
