The Stereoscopic Analyzer combines realtime image analysis with intelligent visualization tools and intuitive graphical user interfaces to assist cameramen and production staff in shooting the right stereo content for 3D post-production and 3D live events.

Ultra Low Latency Video Codec

Fraunhofer HHI offers an ultra-low latency video encoder compliant with the H.264 baseline profile. The encoder is implemented as a hardwired solution, which can be mapped on FPGAs or ASICs without the need of external memory. It is especially tailored to real-time applications and allows up to 1080p encoding with today's FPGA or ASIC technologies.

3D Broadcasting - The next Major Step in Home Entertainment

The 3D4YOU project will develop the key elements of a practical 3D television system, particularly, the definition of a 3D delivery format and guidelines for a 3D content creation process. The project generate 3D capture techniques, convert captured content for broadcasting and develop 3D coding for delivery via broadcast, i.e. suitable to transmit and make public. Its objective is to deliver an end-to-end system for 3D high quality media.

Digitisation and Restoration for Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage

Within the THESEUS program, text and video restoration algorithms are being developed to achieve optimised digitisation results. The major challenge thereby consists in the automatic identification and correction of erroneous data. For instance, drop-out defects are detected and removed from digitised videos.

Games@Large is a European Integrated Project funded under the 6th framework IST programme. The project targets at designing a platform for running an interactive rich content multimedia application such as games over local networks. The Fraunhofer HHI contributs to this project with low delay video and 3D graphics streaming.
