3D brings new perspectives to digital signage and other public displays that don’t use 3D glasses. Format conversion from stereo to glasses-free 3D display specific multiview formats is a necessary postproduction step to bring existing S3D content into public areas where 3D glasses can’t be used. 3D conversion creates the required number of extra views needed to generate autostereoscopic content. Fraunhofer HHI provides dedicated conversion services for almost any type of existing autostereoscopic display.

The Virtual Mirror
The Virtual Mirror enhances visualization of customized consumer articles like clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc. Instead of viewing yourself in a real mirror, highly sophisticated 2D and 3D image processing techniques are now used to visualize the look of new products without any need to actually put them on. A camera captures the real world and outputs the mirrored images onto a large display which replaces a real mirror. Your movements are tracked in real-time and the computer graphics models of the consumer articles are augmented in the video so that you really seem to be wearing the virtual objects.

TiME Lab
The TiME Lab offers a unique and unrivalled blend of 3D panoramic projection in 7k resolution combined with a wave field synthesis (WFS) sound system consisting of a circle of 128 loudspeakers fixed around the auditorium. This system allows the audience to plunge deeply into the animations and sound worlds surrounding them as the 180 degree panoramic projection in 3D takes in the whole field of human vision while the sound mix for the WFS system offers an unparalleled feeling of immersion.
