Interactive Media - Human Factors Photobrowser

Project description
The Photobrowser demonstrates a level based query for pictures from a database. The query runs on a MPEG7 test set of about 5500 pictures. It starts with a representative overview of the pictures, where you can select those most similar to a esteminated target. Then you can start the query by clicking the "Search >>" button. The progress of the query and the current level is indicated by the status line above the display. The buttons "Overview" and "Back2Level2" reset the query and let you return to the second level.
The Photobrowser can display a set of pictures as a list or - in a more innovative way - in 3D. Use the right mouse button to switch between these two modes. The visualisation in 3D is very useful in the first two levels, where the list should be the best way to browse picture sets on the finest level. In 3D, you can rotate the scene by holding the left mouse button and dragging the mouse. You can zoom in and out with the scrollbar on the left or the mouse wheel.
NOTE: The Photobrowser Applet requires the following software installed on your system:
- JRE >= v1.4 by Sun
- GL4Java by Jausoft
Since there are multiple ways to install GL4Java, we recommend to download the Installer and execute it locally as admin (which turned out to be the most easiest way). The demo applications at www.jausoft.com may be useful to check if the installation was successful.
