Photonic Components Polymer OEIC

The polymer technology group develops and manufactures polymer photonic components such as planar light wave circuits (PLC) or optoelectronic integrated circuits (OEICs) according to customer specifications.
Our services include waveguide and mask layout design, optical device fabrication, and prototyping.
AT A GLANCE
- Polymer planar light wave circuits as optical integration bench
- Small footprint, reduced packaging costs, hybrid integration approach
- Tool box concept, large flexibility, rapid prototyping
We have developed and are continuously expanding our tool box of optical functionalities to ensure quick development cycles:
- Integration of alignment grooves for adjustment-free SMF coupling and cost efficient assembly
- Integration of thin film elements for spectral filtering and polarization impact (polarization splitter, polarization mode dispersion control)
- Hybrid integration of planar detectors and detector arrays via integrated 45° mirrors
- Laser diode coupling, both for tapered or non tapered diodes
We have developed several demonstrators of polymer OEIC technology:
- OTDR reflector, 1310 // 1490/1550 TFF MUX/ DEMUX, TriplePlay filter, CWDM filter
- Arrayed Waveguide Grating (AWG), Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer (OADM)
- Sensor head for Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) networks
- 90° hybrid (MMI) with 4x25 Gbit/s detector array for (D)PSK receiver
- 2.5 Gbit/s bidirectional optical subassembly (BOSA)
- D(Q)PSK delay line with active polarization mode dispersion control
