BIMKIT Final Event 2024

JUN 2024

11

Cologne, Germany

Building Information Modeling (BIM) digitally combines data that can efficiently and sustainably maintain buildings and plan construction. BIM can also provide geometrical visualization of building structures as virtual models. However, such models are often unavailable for existing buildings, which prevents the construction and housing industry from optimizing the building life cycle. BIMKIT offers an AI- and cloud-based solution to this problem. Using AI methods, BIMKIT will evaluate information on buildings and infrastructures (e.g., two-dimensional plans, images, point clouds, and text documents) to generate models of structural and technical elements. This information will be used to generate a BIM-based digital model that can be automatically updated.

After three and a half years of intensive work, the BIMKIT project consortium invites you to the final presentation of the research results. BIMKIT (Modeling of Buildings and Infrastructure using Artificial Intelligence to Generate Digital Twins) supports the German government's digitalization strategy and applies the key technologies of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing.

At the final BIMKIT event, the results of the research project will be presented and the potential applications of AI in the construction industry will be demonstrated. There will also be a discussion about the importance of open data spaces (Gaia-X) for digitalization in this area.

The event will address the key question: How can AI-based technologies be used for inventory modeling?

The consortium is looking forward to welcoming participants from research, business, politics and, last but not least, the construction industry. Join the consortium to discuss data collection from buildings and infrastructures, BIM models, data sovereignty and data protection as well as other topics relating to AI-supported and cloud computing-based BIM applications.
