Federal Minister of Education and Research Bettina Stark-Watzinger visits Girls'Day at Fraunhofer HHI

On the occasion of the annual "Girls'Day - Girls' Future Day", Bettina Stark-Watzinger, Federal Minister of Education and Research, visited the Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institut (HHI) on April 25, 2024. On this day, 65 school girls were invited glimpse into the workday of ICT researchers in seven different workshops.

The Minister accompanied the workshops "AI WORLD: Doing homework with ChatGPT?" and "WIRELESS WORLD: Course with robot dogs". Together with the students, she gained insights into various AI tools and learned how to program a small circuit for robot dogs.

In the workshops "MEGA WORLD: Optical data transmission via fiber optics using light and encrypted communication" and "GIGA WORLD: Clear view with the terahertz laser", Fraunhofer HHI researchers introduced the students to the world of photonics. The participants of "MICRO WORLD: Insights into the production of tiny optical chips" had the opportunity to take a closer look at the production process of optical chips in the institute's clean room.

In addition, the video technology experts at Fraunhofer HHI gave insights into their work in the workshops "VISUAL WORLD: Experience virtual reality with VR glasses" and "VIDEO WORLD: Talking to an avatar".
