Multi Sensor Fusion

Multi Sensor Fusion (MSF Sensing)

Co-funded by Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie (BMWi - ZIM Project)

Duration: January 2017 - December 2018
Project start: March 2017

Industrial project partner: DResearch Fahrzeugelektronik

The coorperative research project MSF Sensing of DResearch FE and Fraunhofer HHI aims at the development of algorithms and methods for sensor data fusion. These could be used to increase the accuracy (>99%) of people detecting and tracking in road traffic situations. A high precision and reliable people detecting and tracking is one of the most important capabilities of autonomous vehicles for moving safely in inner-city traffic.

A minimum of two different kinds of sensors (Time-of-Flight and Thermal) will be used. The ToF sensor is the main sensor and responsible for 3D image recognition, people detection and generation of their trajectories. With the help of the thermal signatures (thermal sensor) the recognized objects will be verified.
