Girls'Day 2019

MAR 2019

28

Berlin, Germany

The Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, Heinrich Hertz Institute, HHI is again opening its doors to girls from 5th grade, on the occasion of the national Girl’s Day on the 28th of March. The aim of this vocational oriented project is to encourage the interest in natural science, technical and mechanical research areas early on and to identify the related occupational field.

In three different workshops, the girls will get an impression of the important research areas of the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute HHI.

The girls will learn how microchips are manufactured in the Micro-World workshop. How data can be transmitted via light is the subject of the workshop Mega-World. How fiber optics sensors work is part of the workshop Sensor-World.

By participating in the Girls’ Day project, Fraunhofer HHI strives to inspire female students to get enthusiastic about the so-called STEM careers, which form the major economic and innovation sector. In doing so, Fraunhofer HHI contributes to the increase of the proportion of women in these professional sectors.
