On September 30, 2019, the annual conference of the 5G research initiative "Future Industrial Communication" will take place as part of the IEEE 5G World Forum in Dresden, Germany. This year's conference looks at recent progress, issues and challenges in 5G from the perspective of researchers and users.
The Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute HHI is represented by the researchers Prof. Dr. Slawomir Stanczak, Head of Wireless Communications and Networks Department, and Dr. Anagnostis Paraskevopoulos, project manager in the department Photonic Networks and Systems. Slawomir Stanczak will give a lecture entitled "AI for Industrial Communication: Delusion or Salvation?" Anagnostis Paraskevopoulos describes project experiences in his lecture: "Design of a secure software-defined access network for flexible Industry 4.0 manufacturing - The SESAM-project concept".
The 5G research initiative "Future Industrial Communication" of Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has started in 2013. The initiative covers 19 project consortia, 25 corporate enterprises, 33 SMEs, 15 universities, and 9 academic research institutes. They have all committed themselves to a common goal: to develop Germany into the lead market for 5G. To achieve this goal, research and industry are working together to develop groundbreaking solutions based on concrete application scenarios.
