Ronald Freund and Thomas Haustein from Fraunhofer HHI act as conference chair and keynote speaker at the "IoT Enabling Sensing/Network/AI and Photonics Conference 2019"

The "OPTICS & PHOTONICS International Congress 2019" (OPIC2019) will take place in Yokohama, Japan, from April 22 to 26, 2019. Ronald Freund, head of the Photonic Networks and Systems Department at Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute HHI, along with Norihiro Hagita from ATR Intelligent Robotics and Communication Laboratories, is going to chair the "IoT Enabling Sensing/Network/AI and Photonics Conference 2019". Thomas Haustein, head of the Wireless Communications and Networks Department at Fraunhofer HHI, holds a keynote talk on "What 5G means for the Internet of Things".

The OPIC is the largest congress for optics and photonics in Japan and one of the largest and most prestigious international events in this field. The declared goal of OPIC2019 is to discuss the future of our society, which can be realized through optics and photonics, based on the latest knowledge and technologies worldwide. The congress takes place annually and is conducted in close cooperation between science and industry. It includes specialized international conferences covering a broad spectrum of activities in optics and photonics. Following the previous OPIC traditions, OPIC2019 will deepen the link further with the international exhibition of the same name, OPTICS & PHOTONICS (OPIE'19), using various approaches.

In addition, the congress and the adjacent OPIE'19 provide a platform to get in touch with renowned Japanese industry representatives.
