PIC International Conference 2024

APR 2024

16 - 17

Brussels, Belgium

The Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institut (HHI) is a world leader in the development for mobile and optical communication networks and systems as well as processing and coding of video signals. Together with international partners from research and industry, Fraunhofer HHI works in the whole spectrum of digital infrastructure – from fundamental research to the development of prototypes and solutions.

At PIC International Conference 2024 Fraunhofer HHI presents the latest developments in Photonic Components from April 16-17 in Brussels, Belgium.

Hybrid PICs

Polymer and Silicon Nitride Integration Platforms

Fraunhofer HHI offers hybrid photonic integrated circuits tailored towards their specific application from VIS to NIR.

The polymer and silicon nitride platforms of Fraunhofer HHI are specifically suitable for actives passives integration. Photonic building blocks including ring resonators, MMIs, AWGs, tunable gratings and phase shifters are available. The micro-optical bench allows for on-chip integration of polarization & wavelength handling elements as well as optical isolators, circulators, and nonlinear crystals for quantum technologies.

PIC Evaluation with PIConnect

Plug and Play PIC Evaluation with PIConnect

Fraunhofer HHI has developed PIConnect, a new PIC evaluation setup with integrated laser drivers, current and voltage sources. The system enables parallel operation of the building blocks and, thus, convenient evaluation of PICs. A mainboard with 8 current & voltage sources, 4 laser drivers and a temperature controller is combined with a microcontroller board and a temperature controllable PIC board. This evaluation setup simplifies the handling and characterization of PICs and lowers financial investment at an exploration stage. PIConnect is available as an additional offer to Fraunhofer HHI´s technology platforms.
