Sensors and measurement technologies are actively advancing research and at the same time creating a growing demand in an expanding market. In addition, sensors as well as measurement and testing technologies can be found everywhere in our environment and thus are able to offer support in different sectors, such as medicine and energy supply, or mechanical engineering and the monitoring of goods. At the Sensor+Test 2018 in Nuremburg, seven Fraunhofer Institutes, including the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute HHI, and a performance center will present their research results and developments in the field of sensor technology, measurement and testing technology at Booth 5-248 in Hall 5.
Sensors are the bridge between the real world and the digital world. Technologies from this area therefore play a decisive role in digitisation. Sensors have long been an integral part of our everyday lives, both in the professional and private domain. For it is only possible to digitally depict the real world in a meaningful way via exceedingly precise data. Fraunhofer will present its comprehensive technology portfolio from a wide variety of fields at the world's leading forum for sensor, measurement and testing technology.
Real-time layer thickness measurement with terahertz
Terahertz is a key technology for non-destructive material testing. Major advantages are examinations without physical contact and the analysis of complex systems with a low contrast range, in which established methods like ultrasound usually fail. Fraunhofer HHI has successfully developed a cost-efficient and compact measurement system that conducts real-time measurements of the thickness of multi-layer systems for the first time, an essential technology e.g. for lacquering lines. The new terahertz measurement system T-Sweeper will be presented live at the fair.
You will find these and many other pioneering technologies from June 26 to 28, 2018, at Fraunhofer Booth 5-248 in Hall 5.
