Panoramic UHD Video Production

Fraunhofer HHI provides a complete end-to-end system for the real-time acquisition and projection of immersive, ultra high definition video panoramas. The approach is based on a flexible, mirror-based multi-camera rig - the OmniCam - that uses multiple HD cameras to capture UHD video panoramas. These videos are then exhibited with a flexible multi-projection system in order to provide the viewers with the immersive feeling of watching the event on-site from the very best seat - the HHI TiME Lab.

Virtual Eye Contact Engine

In video communication applications, the fundamental problem remains that users are looking onto the display and not into the camera. Due to this, the remote conferee does not perceive eye contact. However, the eye contact is one of the most important elements of non-verbal communication. Fraunhofer HHI developed the Virtual Eye Contact Engine that offers the required view for direct eye contact calculated from images captured by cameras mounted around the display.
