Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI) is delighted about the success of QuSine, one of this year’s winners of the Berlin Brandenburg Innovation Award 2025.
A milestone for the region and our incubator programs
At the award ceremony at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau, QuSine was honored for its breakthrough work on ultra-precise RF signal synthesizers. With outstanding performance in phase noise and jitter, the company is enabling key advances in quantum technologies, 6G communications, radar systems, and space applications.
As a member of both Fraunhofer HHI’s Silicon Allee program and the xG Incubator, QuSine benefits from a strong research, industry, and funding network. The xG Incubator supports startups shaping the future of wireless communication—from 5G and 6G to quantum applications. QuSine’s achievements underline its pioneering role in photonic microwave signal generation and its contribution to more powerful, energy-efficient communication systems.
Recognition for visionary technology
The jury, chaired by Prof. Oliver Günther, President of the University of Potsdam, highlighted the company’s relevance for Germany’s innovation landscape. Remarks by Ilka Walter, Managing Director of Bürgschaftsbank Berlin, and the support of Franziska Griffey, Senator for Economics, Energy, and Public Enterprises, further emphasized QuSine’s importance for the region.
CEO Peter Hertenstein, PhD, emphasized that the award reflects the dedication of the entire team and serves as motivation to continue pushing technological boundaries. “We are fortunate to have such a strong ecosystem in Germany that helps transform leading research into outstanding technologies—bolstering innovation and competitiveness across our region.”
QuSine’s success reinforces its role as a driver of forward-looking technologies. The close partnership with Fraunhofer HHI demonstrates how research and entrepreneurship come together to shape Europe’s digital future.
We are proud to accompany QuSine on this journey and warmly congratulate the team on this significant achievement.
