Get Home Safely is an EIT Digital Innovation Activity in the Focus Area Digital Cities. The project aims to develop connected lights as an environmentally friendly smart-city solution to guide pedestrians safely through dark urban areas while collecting environmental data. Get Home Safely’s first proof of concept, HexaLight, is a 3D printed IoT device, enabled by various sensors and wireless connectivity to respond to people in proximity with a customizable lighting experience.
Fraunhofer HHI contributes to the project with expertise in mobile networks and IoT system integration. The institute develops the electronic hardware and operating software of the smart lights, including the sensor platform, lighting control and wireless connectivity to the core application.
