Micro-drone defense system

Co-funded by Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in the program to research civil security under the announcement: “Civil Security – Aspects and Measures for Fighting Terrorism”.

The objective of the MIDRAS project is to expand the existing systems for micro-drone detection and defense with innovative technologies. Detecting and classifying the drones as well as taking defensive measures that are suitable in the respective situation are to be supported by the system. The defensive measures focus on the use of technology, adapted to the situation, including among other things interfering with and influencing radio control and GPS signals. If necessary the use of interception drones can ultimately be included as well.

Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute HHI is assuming responsibility for developing and integrating Massive MIMO antennas within the scope of the MIDRAS project. These are used within MIDRAS for the spatial detection of micro-drones and for targeted interference.
