A Sovereign Data Ecosystem for Future 6G Networks
The Telco Data Space enables trusted, policy-enforced data exchange between operators, vendors, and research ecosystems. Built on the principle of data sovereignty, it supports AI-driven automation, interoperability, and new service models in open and disaggregated networks. It ensures that data access always respects data ownership, confidentiality and compliance, while enabling collaborative innovation.
Why now?
Shared telco data sets are the cornerstone of sovereign European 6G innovation. However confidentiality, regulatory, and business concerns challenge cross-stakeholder data exchange.
Applications
- Cross-testbed data exchange for network-AI empowerment
- Cross-operator service provisioning and SLA monitoring
- Cross-vendor optimization in O-RAN
- Operator-to-vendor data sharing for predictive maintenance
- Monitoring and cross-domain QoT assurance across transport networks
Technical Background and Features
The Telco Data Space is powered by the Data Space Connector (DSC) which introduces a governance layer enabling:
- Ownership-aware data exchange
- Policy enforcement for data access and usage
- A federated catalog for data asset discovery
- Exposure of real-time performance data for intelligent control applications (e.g. xApps/rApps)
The Telco Data Space isaligned with Gaia-X and International Data Spaces Association (IDSA) principles.
Who can join and why?
- Network operators: Drive OPEX reduction and obtain more value from data
- Vendors: Accelerate software and hardware validation and maintenance
- Research institutes & testbed owners: Validate models under real operational conditions
- Regulatory bodies: Enable transparency and auditability
