Bridging the gap from theory to practice

To realize the vision of 5G wireless networks, a paradigm shift in network design, management, and operation is necessary. However, the complexity of the future 5G networks impedes the use of engineering intuition alone to provide good solutions. Therefore the Signal and Information Processing (SIP) Group focuses applies mathematical methods from different fields such as signal processing and information theory to cope with central technical challenges in the design and operation of wireless networks. The group expertise lies, among others, in performance analysis, algorithm and protocol design, and system-level evaluation.
