Topic

InPulse democratizes access to industrial prototyping and pre-production of high-performance InP Photonic integrated circuits (PIC). The consortium leverages a pioneering position in open-access research and development for InP PIC technology to create the first manufacturing pilot line for InP PIC technology. This enables the transition from Proof of Concept today to Industrial Prototyping and verification at the end of InPulse. New entrant businesses will be able to confidently commit to PIC-development programms and ramp up from TRL4 (TRL-technology readiness level) rethrough to TRL7.

InPulse will:

  • Create manufacturing process design kits by using smart testing to efficiently collect manufacturing statistics for each release and connect to process improvements to design tools.
  • Increase capacity for open access industrial prototyping to medium volumes (1 000 000 mm2 wafer area) and systematically improve performance of the building blocks.
  • Validate the pilot line with two experienced Pariticipants to validate and stretch the platform performance beyond state of the art, and thirty external user designs to demonstrate the pilot line capability.
  • Establish a sustainable business model with a resilient industrial eco-system to ensure continued open-access after four years and a means to support businesses as they scale to high volume production.

InPulse enables fabless businesses to transition from first concept experimentation to industrial prototype and pre-production.
