medCS.5

Cybersecurity for medical data exchange: 5G campus network for clinical and eHealth applications

The medCS.5 project will use various complementary methods, technologies, algorithms and tests to analyze the data security and resilience of 5G infrastructures in the medical domain and, derived from this, formulate recommendations for the design and operation of such networks.

Funded by Federal Office for Information Security (BSI)

Duration: January 2023 - December 2024

The new mobile communication standards 5G (in future 6G) will also open up new opportunities for healthcare: how do fast-customized data transmission technologies change the "patient pathway" into and through a hospital? How do they improve patient safety and patient experience?

The medCS.5 project will use various complementary methods, technologies, algorithms and tests to analyze the data security and resilience of 5G infrastructures in the medical domain and, derived from this, formulate recommendations for the design and operation of such networks. Using a medical 5G scenario as an example, it will be shown which threats are actually relevant in the medical use of the network and how these threats can be responded to. Furthermore, it will be shown how the resilience of the network can be further strengthened by complementary new technologies and developments.
