The aim of the project "QuNET - Optimization of QKD networks using machine learning (QuNET+ML)" is to enable the use of quantum key distribution (QKD) in realistic network scenarios. Large commercial networks, that will become necessary in Industry 4.0, future 6G communication and in the advancing digitalization and networking of society, are of particular interest. In order to ensure stable and secure communication, research is to be conducted into how the distribution of quantum keys can be optimized in such large networks. As part of QuNET+ML, Fraunhofer HHI is working on machine learning applications by integrating and testing them in suitable testbeds for quantum communication.
