Following on from the great success of the CELTIC flagship projects SASER and SENDATE, more than 70 renowned European partners have come together in an industry-led association for AI-NET (Accelerating digital transformation in Europe by Intelligent NETwork automation) to develop innovative solutions for the automation of communication networks and bring them to application maturity. The joint approach will sustainably strengthen technological sovereignty in communication technology in Germany and Europe. In the subproject AI-NET-PROTECT (Providing Resilient and Secure Networks Operating on Trusted Equipment to CriTical Infrastructures), concepts, network architectures and methods for automated and secure network operation in critical infrastructures and in the economy are examined and developed. The protection of sensitive and security-relevant data and a high level of robustness of the network infrastructure are main focus areas of the project.

As part of AI-NET PROTECT, Fraunhofer HHI is working on innovative solutions for modular connectivity, AI-supported telemetry and network control as well as integrated security and use case demonstrators.
