Iryna Kuptsova (Ignatieva) is a researcher in the Interactive & Cognitive Systems Group at Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institut (HHI), within the Vision and Imaging Technologies department. Her research focuses on human-computer interaction and user experience, with expertise in the sociology of technology, visual sociology, and spatial sociology. She specializes in developing human-centered and culturally-aware cognitive systems.
Biography
Iryna Kuptsova (Ignatieva) is a social scientist who joined the Interactive & Cognitive Systems Group at Fraunhofer HHI in 2024.
Iryna earned her PhD in Political Science from the National University "Odesa Law Academy" (Ukraine) in 2014. In 2020, she was awarded a Docent diploma from the university's Department of Sociology and Psychology, where she had worked as an Associate Professor since 2016. During her tenure, she developed and taught courses in Visual Sociology, Urban Sociology, Social Projects Design, and Sociology of Law.
In 2023, she joined the Department of Sociology of Technology and Innovations at the Technical University Berlin as a Research Fellow. She subsequently became part of the Collaborative Research Center 1265 "Refiguration of Spaces" within the subgroup "Locative Media". Her research there focused on user experience with locative media in wartime. She continues to maintain her position as an associate researcher at TU Berlin while conducting her primary research at Fraunhofer HHI.
At Fraunhofer HHI, her work centers on human-computer interaction, user experience research and the development of human-centered, culturally-aware interactive and cognitive systems.
