Interactive Visualization for Cultural Heritage

Millions of cultural heritage artefacts are stored in archives and are not accessible for the wider public and the research community. In order to make digitized cultural assets available worldwide easily and in 3D, a web browser was developed that enables access to a Cultural Heritage Repository (CHR). It contains a special shader that enables autostereoscopic 3D visualization. In addition, the web browser has an interface to a gesture recognition tool that offers contactless interaction with the user interface and the 3D objects. The figure below shows the 3D web workplace with the autostereoscopic display. The user interface is visualized on a touch display on the bottom. The selected 3D model is then displayed on the autostereoscopic screen.
