Objectives

The aim of the alliance is to bring together competencies from Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, Leibniz-Gemeinschaft and  Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz in humanities, natural sciences and cultural sciences. Together, new approaches and methods for restoration and conservation will be developed and tested. The knowledge transfer between research and restoration practices will be further intensified in order to foster the necessity of preservation of cultural heritage in the public mind.

In the research alliance, 15 Fraunhofer-Institutes, 8 Leibniz research museums and 5 major institutes of the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz seek for an intensive exchange of expertise. In joint research projects,the development of innovative restoration and conservation technologies shall be advanced. Further on, the promotion of scientific talents and fostering the national and international networks represent additional ambitions.
