BIM-Pilotprojekt EÜ Ahlem

Pilot Project: Auralisation of Construction Noise

Client: DB InfraGO AG

Duration: November 2025 – November 2026

In the BIM pilot project EÜ Ahlem, construction-related noise emissions are integratively captured, modelled, and simulated on the basis of a digital building model. For this purpose, partial sound source-specific acoustic measurements are carried out on selected construction machines and combined with high-resolution 360° video recordings. The resulting data serve as the basis for the creation of a 4D BIM model in which construction processes, schedules, and machine operations are linked.

Building on this, standards-based sound propagation calculations (including those in accordance with the German AVV Baulärm guideline) are performed and integrated into the model. The coupling of construction phases with acoustic simulations enables a time-dependent assessment of noise emissions. In addition, various scenarios (including variants with and without noise mitigation measures) are auralised and visualised as immersive UHD 360° applications with 3D audio for realistic analysis and communication of the results.
