Co-funded by the European Commission's Horizon 2020 Programme

Duration: January 2015 – June 2016

The objective of AutoPost is to automate the most time-consuming and expensive manual tasks of movie post-production, to allow the artists to shift their focus to more creative tasks and to make small and medium post houses more competitive. This will be achieved by bridging the gap between commercially-available post-production tools and state-of-the-art research in the domain of alpha matting and surface tracking. The results will be integrated as plugins into standard post-production tools like NUKE and After Effects.

HHI’s contribution to the project is based on our expertise in the fields of sparse surface tracking, dense optical flow estimation with consideration and modeling of shading and illumination as well as flow editing. HHI will advance these methods for their application in post-production and will develop new strategies for flow editing to facilitate a variety of post-processing tasks. Interfaces as well as robust implementations will be provided that will be exploited by the project partners to build a plugin suite.
